the calm after the storm
now this 3-in-1 works on a late night cram.
I’m okay here in the PI. We were fortunate enough to not be affected by the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan. It’s also been confirmed that we won’t be affected by the radiation from the nuclear plant explosion that was of consequence from the recent events, thank God. So please don’t be worried that I haven’t been replying to messages and IM’s. I’ve just been busy with exams—focusing on getting home soon :) Thanks for your concern and love; let’s continue to keep the lives of those affected in Japan in our thoughts and prayers.

Two years of living in the PI has become a mind-blowing and humbling experience for me; and i’m truly blessed to have this opportunity to learn from its people and live as my parents and grandparents have once lived. I’ve come to truly love and appreciate the culture and it’s beautiful people. People who seriously have your back and accept you for who you are. A simple life of love, hard work and prayer really does get you somewhere. Right now, I’m acing the shit out of school and looking at third year med— just a little bit more before my MD. I have so much to be happy and thankful for. God is seriously GOOD.
So, just wanted to put it out there and get to the point of this blurb (because I need to get studying)—Filipino Americans have BIG EGOS. I’ll admit it, I had one too. But I’ve had a turn-around. It makes me sad and angry when people back home use the term “FOB” or any variation of it on their newsfeed and even in conversation with me. I find it offensive and disgusting. You put down immigrants who simply want to live just as we Americans do. It’s a fucking DEROGATORY term— up there with “Nigger” and “Chink”. These people deserve respect, because it’s their hard work that got your ass where you are right now. That car. Those clothes on your back. The roof over your head. That education that you deem so high above any “foreign” education. You are where you are now, because of that “fob.”
So please, friends. Show some god damn respect for your countrymen. Because they did a hell of a lot for you.
